My name is Michelle Liebgott-Osinga. The best way to describe me is to say that I am part naturalist and part artist. I have always been interested in nature and especially animals, and have also always liked to make things.

I went to Humboldt State University, in Arcata, California where I went to study Biology, and instead left with a dual degree in Studio Art and Art History. I was always interested in so many things that it was really difficult to narrow it down, but finally I figured out that what I most wanted was to study the world around me and to make art about what I see.

I live in Lincoln, Nebraska which is right in the middle of the USA on the Great Plains. One reason I called my studio Plains Song Studio has to do with that I live on the Plains. The Song part comes from the idea that a plainsong is a body of chants that is used in the liturgies of the Western church. I feel like my work is a way of singing back to the world which I am inspired by.
